baskets

Baskets are handmade from banana fiber, millet straw, and raffia palm fiber.  Depending on size and pattern, each basket can take from eight to twenty hours to weave.  Basket weaving is a traditional craft in Uganda that is learned by nearly all girls at a young age, and is a way for women in Uganda to sustain their families. Our baskets are made in the town of Fort Portal in Western Uganda.
